Licensing Pirana with Certara Admin

Pirana’s integration with Certara Admin’s licensing capabilities is designed as an online solution where Pirana users are required to log into Certara Admin to gain access to modules. Once logged in, Pirana automatically downloads and stores a securely signed license file that is good for 30 days of offline use. The license will refresh each time Pirana is started and 24 hours have elapsed since the last refresh, keeping it up-to-date with configurations that administrators have set for a user. If 30 days elapse since the last connection to Certara Admin, the user needs to restore internet connection to let Pirana refresh the license.

Product access and license assignment can be maintained by a organization’s administrator through Certara Admin’s user management tools. Licenses are granted to individual users through the assignments of individual seats of the Pirana modules.

This section assumes that you have previously been configured for Pirana access before logging into Certara Admin.

When launching Pirana for the first time, a warning appears stating licensing has not been authenticated. To authenticate the license:

Select Help > License.
PiranaLicenseEmpty

Press Login.
A browser window is opened to the Certara Admin login page.

Enter your credentials or use SSO, if available.

Note:    When you provide personal data, Certara’s Privacy Notice states that the information will be used for the purposes of administering or using Certara’s offerings and managing Certara’s relationship with yourself in any manner, e.g., setting up an account or collecting the personal data to process an invoice for accounting purposes.

LicenseUserCompLogin

If you have been granted access to Pirana, a login success page is shown. (If access is denied, request access to Pirana through Certara Admin or contact your Certara Admin administrator.)

LicenseAuthSuccess

Notice that the Pirana license dialog in Pirana has automatically been updated.

PiranaLicenseFilled

The dialog indicates any Pirana modules that have been unlocked by changing the red dot next to the Module name to green. You will see the time of the last connection to Certara Admin (Issued at), the expiration date, the remaining time allowed for offline use (Refresh until), and Certara Admin URL for your organization. In addition, the login, logout, and refresh actions can be managed from this dialog.

Note:    In organizations with restricted internet access, be sure to whitelist the organization’s URL since regular access is needed for refreshing the license.
